Bp. Elibariki Sumbe

Born into a Muslim family in Singida, Tanzania, on October 1st, 1968, Elibariki Sumbes early life was marked by hardship. Poverty cast a long shadow, culminating in the tragic death of his father. The young Elibariki, burdened with grief and responsibility, had to carry his fathers body for over 60 kilometers from the hospital back to their village. This experience etched a deep sense of loss and longing in his heart.

Years passed, and Elibariki found himself seeking solace in the fleeting distractions of a local pub. But it was in this unlikely setting that his life took a dramatic turn. As he sat amidst the noise and smoke, Jesus Christ appeared to him in the form of fire. This encounter was a moment of profound transformation, igniting a spark of faith within him that would forever alter his course.

Elibariki embraced Christianity with fervor, dedicating himself to learning about Christ and sharing his newfound faith with others. His sermons resonated with people, and soon, miracles and wonders began to accompany his ministry. His reputation as a powerful preacher and a man of God spread far and wide.

Driven by a vision to build a community of believers, Elibariki founded the Vuka Yordani Church in Ngaramtoni Arusha but later expanded and had to be relocated to Kisongo Waya, Arusha. The churchs name, meaning Cross the Jordan, served as a potent symbol of the transformative journey of faith. This was just the beginning. Elibariki went on to establish the Grace Evangelical Churches, a network of churches across Tanzania, each with its own pastor but overseen by him as the Bishop.

His passion for spreading the gospel wasnt confined to Tanzania. Bishop Sumbe embarked on extensive tours and crusades across Europe, America, and Africa. His message of hope and salvation resonated with diverse audiences, drawing people from all walks of life to Christ.

Bishop Elibariki Sumbes life stands as a testament to the transformative power of faith.
